This blog is:
A living sketch book for the ideas generated during our Creative Halton Project in 2011. On this blog you will get to see the ideas as they pop up and see where the inspiration has come from. These are the ideas of the artists Beth Barlow and Jason Sheppard, informed by those we have spoken to. It has also grown to include the ideas sent to us by local residents . If you want to contribute please e mail bethbarlow@bethbarlow.com

This blog is not:
A finished product. Many of the ideas here will be tested and seen to be the wrong for the place, time and its people. We hope that the ideas we take forward will be the correct ones, giving Runcorn a taste of its rich past, the positives in its present and notions about its future.

The Fred Kearsley Memorial walk

The Fred Kearsley Memorial walk takes place every year to raise money for Runcorn Linnets Football club. One of our event stories features Fred and we found this link to the walk map. If you know anything else about him we are trying to find out the furthest place he walked to and how long it took. Also did he say " Well you can start now, I'm here" on walking into the ground and wave his scarf or his hat. We need the info by this Friday, so pretty short notice. You can post your info here or e mail Beth at bethbarlow@bethbarlow.com

Time and place for Saturday

Our Saturday event will start with a parade of ghostly characters from The Curiosity Book Shop at 1pm. We will then process along Regents Street, Church Street, and onto High Street. The main event will happen between 1.30-3.30pm at what used to be The Old Town Garage on the high Street. Come along whenever you like between these times.

Here you can have the chance to find a collection of ghostly character and see their stories via a live web cam. You can be in charge of operating the remote controlled web cam robot to find the characters waiting in the old garage. The films of the characters will be projected for everybody passing by to see. There will also be chance to discuss the past and future and activities to get involved in.

A sneeky peek at the Quizes for the event on the 16th July

These are the drafts at the moment so if there are any keen spelling or grammar mistake spotters out there let us know. Also if you can help us fill in a few of the blanks in our knowledge that would be great too. Either leave a comment below or e mail bethbarlow@bethbarlow.com

Saturday 16th July

Come into the Old town and find the ghosts of Runcorn's past hanging around in an empty shop. Its a secretish location although the marquee outside and bunting might give it away. It will be somewhere on the Runcorns "Golden Triangle", High Street, Church Street and Regent Street. Keep your eyes on the blog as we will tell you the times we will be there after meeting our ghosts on Sunday.

School workshop goes down a storm

The kids from Victoria came today to do the workshop and treasure hunt. It was chaotic but fantastic. Lots of talented kids both in terms of finding things, talking to people, voicing their opinions and making some whacky sculptures. Sculpture pictures still to come but here are a few of the workshop taken by one of the year 6 pupils.

Our new Garage Abode

We got hold of the Old Town Garage for a few days of workshops. Its fantastic inside.

Treasure Hunt

Tomorrow we try out our Runcorn treasure hunt with local school children from Victoria Infants school and on Saturday a group from the YMCA. They are also going to lend a hand at sculpture making in our new garage abode. The boxes will stay around the venues for others to find in the future and are all in places we feel are treasures of Runcorn. We can't tell you were just yet but watch this space and we will let you know about the treasures we have found.
